My approach to treatment is therapy must be client centered and focus on the entire individual. Client centered means the client plays an active role in therapy and we address what you want to focus on in treatment. The mind and body are not separate; in order to work through mental health issues, all aspects of the person’s life need to be addressed. This holistic approach to treatment will often times include discussing things such as diet, lifestyle, physical health, and external stressors. In addition to that, I utilize an intersectionality framework in therapy sessions. This means we will work on your goals through a lens of exploring your multiple intersecting identities such as race, class, gender, and sexual orientation, and how they overlap and affect the current issues you may be facing.
The types of treatment modalities I utilize include Brainspotting, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, dialectical behavior informed therapy, trauma specific treatment, Inner Relationship Focusing, and somatic/body-based techniques.
